Today is G’s birthday and I’ve been completely slack on celebrating with him. We spent all last week catching up from the robbery, we were away all weekend and I’ve been flat out all this week between home repairs, pre-scheduled events and school. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day to treat him.

I’ve been super productive today, though. I went to school this morning even though I was really very unprepared. I sat afterward and nursed a latte while I caught up on two chapters of homework. Then I ran a bunch of errands downtown to replace more of the stuff that was stolen. For the insurance company to repay us, we have to provide receipts showing that we replaced the items. I hope they cover it all.

Yesterday, G, Flex and I ran a bunch of errands. We hit CostCo, Home Depot and the grocery store. I picked up a new motion sensor light for above the garage and near the front door as well as a new set of lights to replace our dining room setup. The lights in the dining room are just 4 little 25 watt bulbs that are too dim to see by and they are not at all energy efficient. So, I bought a three light insert that holds 60 watt bulbs. I wasn’t sure if I could replace the light fixture without having to buy a whole new fan/light fixture. Amazingly, it works marvelously. Yeah me! We now have a super bright light above our gaming table so I can bead while we play.

I also installed the two outdoor lights. The big one over the garage had not worked since we had the house sided. I was up on that ladder almost a whole hour working on it. My ladder only goes so high and I had to do the whole job with my arms up in the air. It became much easier when G took the second ladder and just held the unit for me while I spliced the wires and screwed it in. I really hate jobs like that… I am rather acrophobic. I think I did pretty well considering I was shaking up there after the first half hour. Again, yeah me!

All that drama made installing the light near the front door a piece of cake. Much lower to the ground and a simpler installation. All in all, I’m very pleased with today’s accomplishments. It’s a brighter world here at Avalonne. *smug smile*
