I also wanted to thank
cathyholmes for lending
lethran the Neil Gaiman DVD set. We really enjoyed watching Neverwhere. Thank you for sharing! In my whirlwind of fun and activities I forgot to give you credit for such a great experience. Ah, yet another author I must read! The stacks of books are sooooo high. *cranes neck back and shades eyes with a hand to try to see the zenith of the stack of waiting books...*
G and I slept in late this morning. Ahhhh, the sheer luxury of a long cold morning spent cuddling under the down comforter. We really haven’t had much time for each other in the past few weeks and it was a great morning. I love having the house full of warm loving bodies, but it’s also so nice to have the contrasting quiet as well.
We strategically decided to leave the house for our errands at the height of the warmth of day. You know, the point when it was raining and the roads were more slush than ice. We went to the bank… closed. We went to the downtown LCC to buy our book for class tomorrow… closed. We went to the Library to return and check out more Europe books… closed. The only place that was open was the body shop where G needed to stop to take a photo of our broken axel for the insurance claim.
We had fun cleaning the car of its centimeter of ice and crunching around town. So many trees are broken and bent. It’s very sad to see. In New England, the trees are rigorously worked out every winter so only the strongest branches survive into spring. Then the hurricane winds trim them again before the winter ice sets in. Here, the trees reign unchallenged by all but humans. When the occasional wind or ice storm hits, the poor babies can’t deal with it. I’ve never had to have my trees pruned professionally before moving here.
Last night, J.R. came over unexpectedly for a moment and we ended up playing Carcasonne, eating leftover soup and I made us all orange creamsicle smoothies. We were up until past 1am. It was so nice to not have to worry about reporting for work in the morning. *content sigh*
I’ve left the couch unfolded into bed position. I’ve piled pillows and blankets upon it and G and I have every intention of cuddling and watching a movie tonight. It’s very exciting. There’s room for at least two more bodies if anyone is interested. We don’t know what we’re watching yet, but it doesn’t really matter. I’m seeing hot tea and hot chocolate in the near future…
