George and I have spent the past couple of days roaming about downtown Sydney. We took the train in and found a couple of gaming stores that were pretty good. There isn’t really much of a gaming community here, mostly it revolves around the Universities. We’ll have to post there to find some gamers.

I wanted to buy a couple of new bras so I looked up Victoria’s Secret in the White Pages. There was one listed in Chatswood. A week or so ago, George and I went there to look for it and we walked up and down the street to no avail. Yesterday morning, I decided to call them and find out if they moved. A woman answered the phone, “May I help you?” I said she could and asked if I had reached Victoria’s Secret, the lingerie shop. She said I had reached Victoria’s Secret, but it was an escort agency. Yikes! Bit of a difference there. I guess that’s why we couldn’t recognize it on the street. It’s bound to have a slightly different image… well, one would hope.

So, left without my old reliable bra shop, I sought a couple out in Sydney proper. (Trish, you and I should have gone to the mall that day before I left for Sydney. There are absolutely no Victoria’s Secret Lingerie shops here in AU at all. *sigh*) I found out their bra sizes here run a tad smaller than in the US so I’ve changed sizes, not to mention the metric measurement instead of inches. So much to get used to.

We also found a vegetarian Yum Cha restaurant across from the train station. It was wonderful. This was my first wholly vegetarian restaurant experience here in Australia… there’s hope for this country yet! *smirk*

While we were downtown, we decided to take a walk to Darling Harbour. They had scheduled an all night venue with three separate bands playing along the Harbour, fireworks in the Harbour at 9pm, then more music and more fireworks at midnight. George and I danced to a live swing band for an hour, then we watched a really great fireworks show set to music. We then took the train home. It’s currently 11:30. Only half an hour away from 2003. It’s about 4:30am in Eugene. I’ll be in next year before you! And chances are you weren’t sitting in a short sleeve tee shirt and mini skirt on a harbour dock, still sweating from swing dancing, with a warm summer breeze blowing fireworks over your head. Chances are. *smug smile*

But, I miss you all. I’d rather have you all here with me, enjoying our discoveries. We’d be a merry group! We’d certainly bring some life to these boring, stodgy city folk. G and I were the only ones dancing at first. Finally, after 30 minutes, some others joined in. I guess we have some work to do here. We must loosen these people up a bit. I’m bringing all my costumes with me next trip. When it’s a little cooler, I plan to wander the streets in full regalia, cape flowing in the sea breeze! Ha hah! Take that boredom and complacency!

Happy New Year, everyone. I’ll warm up the year for you, reserve some of the comfy seats in the balcony and see you in a few hours.
